Akiko Nakayama
中山晃子 ライブペインティングの映写を使ったパーフォーマンスでは絵の具が動き、光が使われ、それは永続性を持ちいつまでも続くようで一カ所にとどまらずいつも流れにあるが、そこで中山はハイテクからローテク、そしてノーテクへと移行しながら彼女のアート制作のプロセスにチャレンジした。オープニングで中山はミュージシャンがジャズを奏でるなか「生で」ペイントしたが、絵を描くプロセスはビジュアル・ミュージックであった。中山はアートセンター近くで森の床の上に生きた植物、葉っぱ、青葉を、白色の明るいペーパーを使ってハイライトさせた。パターンはそのディテールと変化によってことさら歴然となり、ヘンリー・フォックス・タルボットの「ライト･ドローイング」と呼ばれる植物を使った写真界初期の実験作品を思い出させるが、中山の作品はあくまで生きものの文脈のなか－自然の森林－のものである。「父なる空 母なる大地」はアートの中に存在し、大地のためであり、わたしたちの自然との繋がりである－自然、このわたしたちの本来のホーム、滋養と生命の源もと。中山晃子はこの「大地の生命のサンプル」をあたかも一つひとつが家の部屋であるかのように配置したが「母なる大地」のための設計図シリーズはこの森の家！にアレンジされているのである。生態学（エコロジー）経済学（エコノミックス）という言葉は一つのギリシャ語、オイコス、に由来するがそれは家庭あるいは家を意味する。エコロジー（ロゴスは学問を意味する）は「家庭」の学問でありエコノミックス（ノミックスはマネージメントの意味）は家庭のマネージメントである。中山は自然がわたしたちのオイコス、いつも住んでいないにしてもわたしたちの家、であることをハイライトしている。生活の質はわたしたちがどのように家庭をやりくり（マネージ）するかに関係している。自然やライフ自体がわたしたちの全経験の片隅に格下げとなっている。持続型農業の枠内で生活するプロセスと自然と共に、自然に逆らわずに生きて行くことが人類の将来への鍵である。

Akiko Nakayama, whose performances with live painting projections move paint, with light, in perpetuity, forever it seems, never fixed always in a flow, has challenged her art process by going from high-tech to low-tech to no-tech. At the opening she painted “ALIVE” with mnusicians playing jazz, the painting process was visual music. On the forest floor near the art center, Nakayama has highlighted living plants, leaves and assorted greenery using bright white sheets of paper. The details and varied patterns become all the more visible and recall the early experiments in photography with plants made by Henry Fox Talbot, (called “Light Drawing”) Nakayama’s are still in a living context - the natural forest. Father Sky and Mother Earth are in the art, for the earth and our connections to nature, reaffirm our primordial links to nature – our true home, and source of sustenance and life. Akiko Nakayama has arranged these “earth life samples” as if each were a room in a house, and this series of floor plans for Mother Earth is arranged in this forest house! The words ecology and economics derive from the same Greek word, oikos, which means household or home. Ecology (logos meaning study) is the study of the home, and economics (nomics meaning management) is home management. Nakayama highlights that nature is our oikos, our house, even if we don’t always live in it. Quality of life relates to the way we manage our home. Nature and life itself have been relegated into a small corner of our experience. The process of living within a permaculture and designing the way we live with nature and not against it are a key to humanity’s future.
